With the release of the twenty-fifth volume of Tamiki Wakaki’s series The World God Only Knows in Japan this week, the reveal has been made in it that the series will be coming to a close soon as the twenty-sixth volume will be the final one. The series, which began in 2008, averages just over three months per volume so it’s expected that the ongoing manga in Weekly Shonen Sunday will come to a close soon based on the release of this book and the unreleased chapters on hand after that as each compiled volume averages around eleven chapters and there are about eight chapters out past this volume.

The property has been something of a surprise hit as the first two TV seasons came out and we got a handful of OVAs as well. It also took the unexpected route of a third season that skipped a lot of volumes of material to get to the Goddesses arc instead of adding more of the chapters to animated form. The first two TV seasons have been licensed and released by Sentai Filmworks while the third season is unlicensed as of this writing.

Plot concept: Keima is a dating sim champion. Cute girls are rendered powerless by his irresistible game playing techniques. Too bad things aren’t that way in the real world. That is, until his tempting game playing causes a real live—and very bubbly-cute—demon hunter named Elsie to materialize! Now Elsie wants Keima to help her free hot girls from sneaky demons who secretly possess them.
