Welcome back to Star Wars Thursday, a celebration of the wonderful and often wacky world of a galaxy far, far away.

The Winter Olympics are over once again. While I didn’t watch many events on television, I saw so many tweets I almost felt like I was there!

Someone else may also have been present at the Olympics… someone with lasers who was intent on wreaking havoc with the skiers at Sochi. So much for the Dark Side being lousy shots!

The President of Russia was another figure who factored into many tweets. I don’t know him personally, but I wonder if this is an accurate representation? This artwork is from BigRockGallery’s Etsy shop. I’m sure many of you would love to have this face grace the wall of your dining room…

Maybe you’d rather celebrate the good old “U. S. of A.”? I know there have to be readers here from other countries, but this was the only print like this I found. Though with the accuracy of a Stormtrooper’s shooting, we probably don’t want them on our biathlon team.

Which Star Wars characters would make good Olympic athletes? This DeviantArt member, Crimsonight, depicts Barriss Offee as a graceful figure skater.

I couldn’t just leave well enough alone, so here are the winter sports I think some of my favorite characters would enjoy.

Han Solo – biathlon. When I started to ponder this question, Han with a rifle was the first thing that came to mind. If he wears his Hoth gear, he may even stay warm as he cross country skies to victory!

Anakin – freestyle skiing. His pod racing skills show that he’s agile and daring. Anakin’s courage, tenacity, and fierce individuality would be a good match for this sport.

Luke  – skeleton. This was my fourth grade son’s suggestion, actually. He thought that Luke would enjoy the thrill of the ride. His use of the Force would certainly help keep him safe all the way down. Would that be considered cheating?

Leia – curling. Something about her clever mind and ability to strategize made me think that she’d be a valuable member of any curling team. Yes, I think she would also excel at many of the faster paced, dangerous events, too. After all, she has just as much innate Force sensitivity as her brother.

What winter sports could you picture your favorite Star Wars character enjoying? Until next week – may the Force be with you!
