One show we got to talk about a bit late last year is Danchi Tomoo, a more family oriented show that doesn’t fit in with what most people want to see when it comes to anime – which is unfortunate. The series recently got its nod for a DVD release in Japan which is where we learned about it. It’s based on the manga by Tobira Oda that began back in 2003 in Gekkan! Spirits and the anime has been airing since early 2013. Now word has come out from the magazine that it runs in that the show will hit its first year mark in April and it’ll keep going into a second year, which is great news for its fans of wholesome anime family entertainment.

The series is directed by Ayumu Watanabe, who spent much of his time working on Doraemonbut has also directed Mysterious Girlfriend X and Space Brothers.

Plot concept: It’s a heartwarming and sometimes nonsense comedy about an elementary school boy Tomoo Kinoshita.
