Short stories can definitely do some interesting things when expanded and ABC certainly has that hope as they’re picking up the pilot for The Visitors, which comes from Amblin TV who is also behind Falling Skies. THe series is based on the Ray Bradbury short story Zero Hour, which was part of the 1951 novel The Illustrated Man. ABC Studios is set to produce the pilot with Amblin as it’s being developed by Amblin with Dawn Olmstead and writer Soo Hugh, who worked on The River and Under The Dome.

Original story concept: Children across the country are deeply involved in an exciting game they call “Invasion”. Their parents think of it as harmless fun until it turns out that the invasion is real and aliens are using the children to help them get control of Earth.
