Marvel is continuing on with its work with Madhouse to produce some anime incarnations of its titles, which is both surprising and welcome considering they’re part of the Disney family, but they’ve had some things that have worked. The latest one to get the nod is Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher. The title is getting a quick release as it’s due out on March 25th, 2014 on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download. With it working off the ideas of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but not considered canon, it’s definitely interesting to see what they bring into play. This one works Black Widow and Punisher obviously, but as you look through the trailer below, you can also see at least a token nod towards the newest Captain Marvel incarnation.
Plot concept: After interfering with a top secret mission, The Punisher is taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and Avenger Black Widow. At the orders of Director Nick Fury, Punisher and Black Widow are sent on a mission to stop Leviathan, a global terrorist organization that plans to sell stolen S.H.I.E.L.D. technology to the highest bidder. Now, the vigilante and spy must work together to prevent this technology from falling into the wrong hands. The fate of the world, and of the Avengers, hangs in the balance.
