Marvel Studios continues to manage to bring in some intriguing talent to their features as they’ve now announced that Michael Douglas has joined Ant-Man. The film, set for a July 31st, 2015 release, is directed by Edgar Wright and previously cast Paul Rudd in the film as the lead character. The uncertainty mounted over that casting in the last week as Edgar Wright noted that the two different men that wear the Ant-Man name will be in the film. Michael Douglas has been announced as playing Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, which puts Paul Rudd in the Scott Lang character. Hank Pym first appeared in TALES TO ASTONISH #27 back in January of 1962.

“With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves,” said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. “We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.”
