‘Haikyu!!’ Anime Adaptation Gets Spring 2014 Broadcast

2 min read

A new key visual has arrived for the recently announced Haikyu!! adaptation and it adds the little bonus of indicating that it’ll be an April 2014 series. The manga comes Haruichi Furudate’s series of the same name and will be animated by Production I.G. for the season. The sports series about a group of high school volleyball players began in 2012 and has its eighth volume of the manga set for release in October, which makes the timing of the announcement pretty snazzy. The series has had a voice comic done previously, but often they shift to a completely different cast when going to the full anime style run. The series will be animated by Production I.G. as it moves from the pages of Shonen Jump to the small screen.

Plot concept: A chance event triggered Shouyou Hinata’s love for volleyball. His club had no members, but somehow persevered and finally made it into its very first and final regular match of middle school, where it was steamrolled by Tobio Kageyama, a superstar player known as “King of the Court.” Vowing revenge, Hinata applied to the Karasuno High School volleyball club…only to come face-to-face with his hated rival, Kageyama! A tale of hot-blooded youth and volleyball from the pen of Haruichi Furudate!!
