Graphic Novel Film Adaptation ‘Blue Is The Warmest Color’ Gets First Trailer

1 min read

Blue Is The Warmest ColorAdapting the 2010 graphic novel of the same name by Julie Maroh, the first trailer for Blue is the Warmest Color has debuted. The graphic novel, which we’ve reviewed previously here, won a number of awards during its debut in France and is set for publication in North America in October, though it’s available from some outlets now. The film, made for four million Euros, has a nearly three hour run time and has garnered strong acclaim from the various juries that have seen it. It also won the Palme d’Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and was noteworthy as it became the first film to be awarded the prize to both the director and the main actresses.

No North American debut date is set, largely because the film has received an NC-17 rating and will be released uncut, so few theaters will actually show it.

Plot concept: 15-year-old Adèle aspires to become a teacher, but her life is turned upside down when she meets Emma, a blue-haired art student at a nearby college, who instigates a romance.
