“Longer Ago, in a Galaxy Even Farther Away…”
With Star Wars being hugely influential on me as a child, being seven or so when I saw it in theaters for the first of many, many times during various re-releases, one of the things that always made me an even bigger fan and also led me to being interested in how films were made were the full color art plates released with the initial designs by Ralph McQuarrie. It’s why I’m keen on the new Rebels TV series and really intrigued by The Star Wars, which has Dark Horse Comics creating an 8 issue series that adapts the original rough draft screenplay George Lucas came up with before all the usual polishing, tweaks and other changes. Check out the first trailer for the new comic adaptation below to see some of the original concepts that will be brought to life.
Plot concept: Annikin Starkiller is the hero . . . Luke Skywalker is a wizened Jedi general . . . Han Solo is a big green alien . . . and the Sith . . . Well, the Sith are still the bad guys. High adventure and derring-do from longer ago, in a galaxy even further away!
