‘Fables’ Feature Gets Director Attached

2 min read

FablesProgress has been made once again when it comes to adapting Fables to the big screen as Heat Vision is reporting that Nikolaj Arcel has been attached as the director for the project. Arcel comes from a recent Danish film, A Royal Affair, to the project which already has Jeremy Slater writing it. Slater is currently working on the Fantastic Four reboot for Fox. The film is being produced by Heyday Films, which was involved in the production of the Harry Potter franchise of films, which you can imagine them wanting to reproduce with this long running comic series. The comics, written by Bill Willlingham, began in 2002 and continue on today with several spinoffs done along the way.

Arcel also co-wrote the screenplay to the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Comic Concept: When a savage creature known only as the Adversary conquered the fabled lands of legends and fairy tales, all of the infamous inhabitants of folklore were forced into exile. Disguised among the normal citizens of modern-day New York, these magical characters have created their own peaceful and secret society within an exclusive luxury apartment building called Fabletown. But when Snow White’s party-girl sister, Rose Red, is apparently murdered, it is up to Fabletown’s sheriff, a reformed and pardoned Big Bad Wolf, to determine if the killer is Bluebeard, Rose’s ex-lover and notorious wife killer, or Jack, her current live-in boyfriend and former beanstalk-climber.
