Originally airing in the spring of 2011 and getting licensed not long after by FUNimation, we’ve gone a long time without hearing anything new about We Without Wings, aka Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai. The show, based on the eroge visual novel of the same name from Navel, was announced with a DVD/BD pickup but then promptly forgotten it felt like as no news has surfaced for nearly two years now. FUNimation had added the series to their site and YouTube channel in subtitled form, but with the way the show was received critically and from fans, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it just disappear.  But now it seems like some progress will be made soon as according to FUNimation’s streaming schedule, the first two episodes will premiere on July 23rd in dub form.

Plot Concept: Timid Takashi wants to escape to an alternate world where he is a heralded knight, but is held back by thoughts of his younger sister and his girlfriend. Part-timer and all around upbeat guy Shusuke has a disastrous first encounter with a woman who turns out to be his new co-worker. Handyman Hayato is a hard-boiled loner that has random encounters with two gangs and a girl with a uniform fetish. Throw in plenty of fan-service, random humor, an alternate medieval world, and your narrator DJ Condor, and you get “We Without Wings – Under the Innocent Sky”.
