Ixion Saga DT Episode 13
The view of the world through the eyes of a romantic young woman is one of the scariest things out there.

After a lengthy episode focusing on just Marian and Sanglain as the others were supposedly dead, things get back on track here as in the prologue alone we get them coming back into contact with Kon and the princess. Having fairly successfully given the impression that Kon and the princess were dead to Erec’s men, after that fateful battle two episodes ago, they can now continue on their journey without too much worry. Though it’s pretty obvious that they’ll come into contact with them again since the two sides are destined to meet again and again until it can come to a proper impasse and both sides go their own way. Which is why I really hate episodes that play up the whole dead character angle because it is just so fake and pointless for the most part.

With that out of the way, the series wants to throw a few things at us, including a new character that goes by the name of Miranda. She’s a bright and outgoing blonde girl who lives with her parents and is just problematic with her personality, especially in how she’s so rough with everyone. She’s the type that does things without realizing how it impacts others, such as forcing a sandwich into her grandmothers mouth and hitting her upside the face with a broom without understanding what it does to her. Yet, it’s pretty apparent that certain paths will cross, though you know Kon and the others want to try and lay a little low after getting away from Erec and the others. Which is, of course, why they have meals out on the street and continue to make plenty of noise and draw attention to themselves.

What’s not a surprise is that Miranda falls for Kon upon first site, romanticizing him in a pretty big way that so completely doesn’t represent him in the slightest. Miranda also starts to come across as a real split personality in how she views herself in some ways, which makes the situation even worse. As she pursues Kon, and gets into fights with him, it’s also amusing how Marian gets involved and that just sets Miranda off even more after seeing the size of her chest. There’s a lot of back and forth throughout it with a fair bit of violence as well with how Miranda acts as she tries to win him over and misinterprets everything, especially once she binds him up in chains. It’s cute, has its moments, but feels so fluffy and unimportant overall that it’s hard to think of it as anything more than that.

In Summary:
Ixion Saga continues to underwhelm, but that doesn’t surprise me by any stretch at this point. The show is largely one of inertia for me with some brief flashes of absolute fun here and there. This episode introduces us to Miranda and she certainly is an archetype character that we’ve seen many, many times over the years, and there is some layer of fun to watching her misunderstandings along with Kon’s and how they interact with each other, especially towards the end where it takes on some video game gags to drive home its point. It doesn’t make me want to see more of Miranda and it doesn’t exactly help to get the show back on track after the whole dead Kon and princess subplot that you knew would come to a close quickly.
