Sentai Filmworks Announces Five New Anime Licenses At NekoCon 2012

2 min read

While most announcements are made during the summer and early fall conventions, one con that continues to get some good announcement love is NekoCon. Sentai Filmworks had their panel there this evening and rattled off a good list of titles, some of which definitely have us very excited.

Sentai Filmworks has announced the acquisition of Kamisama Dolls. The series, which is currently still available on Crunchyroll, will have a bilingual DVD and Blu-ray release for the thirteen episode run. They have not confirmed the acquisition of the 6 specials at this time.

The company has also acquired the home video and streaming right for the ten episode series Ebiten. The show has no details on release and was a late sorta-simulcast announcement for Crunchyroll. The show was originally an ONA that got extended footage to make it available for broadcast this season.

Sentai also went back a few seasons to acquire a big favorite of mine with Battle Girls: Time Paradox. The thirteen episode series is getting a bilingual DVD and Blu-ray release in the future.

On the new side from this season, Sentai has also acquired the home video and streaming rights for Say, “I Love You. The series was another late simulcast pickup that’s available on Crunchyroll.

And finally, the company picked up yet another new fall 2012 anime series with The Pet Girl of Sakurasou. The license includes home video and streaming for the twenty-four episode series that is also simulcasting on Crunchyroll.

As is noted with other recent acquisitions, for shows that are currently airing, once they’re completed and the simulcast numbers are taken into account it will factor into whether it gets a dub and whether it gets a Blu-ray release. So if you want it to get both, it’s best to watch the simulcasts (and join in on the discussions and spread your enjoyment of it to others!).
