With an incredibly tight timeline that’s not friendly to anyone, it looks as though the last chance for Daredevil to remain at Fox may have gone up in smoke. After David Slade left the production, Fox has been scrambling for a way to make things work and get it lensing before October, the deadline before the property returns to Marvel. With Joe Carnahan being in talks for taking over the project, it looks like that may have fallen through according to a new tweet from the director.

If the property does return to Marvel Studios, it doesn’t mean they’ll fast track it, especially with their current slate of films in the works through 2015. It does open up the potential for the character to appear elsewhere, perhaps as a supporting character, but our guess is that it would be an ideal character to utilize for the “street level’ heroes of the Marvel Universe in getting them on TV. Daredevil is a character that could do well there, mixing in the lawyer side and the crime fighting side while having the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe as its backdrop.
