With the search through this sector continuing as they look for the Green Lantern’s that made their way out there and have been lost, we get some interesting things going on in a very different sector of space. Case in point is the start here where a ring has found a new owner on a planet after its original was killed, but the problem is that the planet that they’re now ready to head for is about to be destroyed in five minutes due to an asteroid about to hit it. We get some good tension with it but also a look at the scale of the Lantern’s abilities when they pool together for things. Hal’s recklessness is good in that their efforts do slow down when the planet will be destroyed, but it puts them at a power disadvantage afterward because of how much was consumed by it. It’s a straightforward look at the two different styles that exist between Hal and Kilowog in simplest of terms.

The planet itself certainly offers up some curiosities in a way that’s definitely a part of how the DC Nations shows go in that it’s very relaxed in a way, not needing to throw constant action or quips at the viewer. When down on the planet, there are some that they come across but there’s a curiosity about it as the first group they come across is a trio from different races that get along in a basic way, but also hint at a truth when they ask where Hal and the others crashed, not conceiving that someone would land voluntarily there. Naturally, there’s more to these three than meets the eye and watching them tweak the situation in their own way as they separate from each other and pair off is a lot of fun as it lets them stand out but also Hal and the others with their personalities.

As it unfolds and more of the truths come out, it’s really engaging to watch because it lets the characters talk and explain things while tweaking the situation along the way. What becomes a particular bit of fun is when Razer continues his search alone and gets a better idea about the truth of this world but comes before a creature who calls himself Saint Walker before he can explore it more. He’s got such a great attitude and personality here that it just infuriates Razer all the more. Paralleling this fight sequence which has a certain sense of fun about it is the one with Kilowog and the warrior that he admires from a legendary battle who isn’t what he seems. But as much fun as that is, it’s Saint Walker that draws you in as he hints of bigger things to come, a war in the offing and a chance at real change for Razer that continues to gnaw at him in a way that only serves to enrage him in the end.

In Summary:
While it could easily be a toss away episode in a way, dealing with a ymstery and bringing in a new Green :Lantern or resolving the mystery in some other fashion, it’s more something that speaks to the larger storyline that will be making is way into the season and the variety of things yet to come. While Aya continues to frustrate me just a tiny bit, I’m digging Razer and what he brings to the show. But I really enjoyed the inclusion of Saint Walker here and the little twist at the end that changes the ranks. I can easily see why this series is annoying some of the long time fans of the comic franchise, but it’s a highly appealing show that’s definitely drawing in new fans for the character and its overall mythos.

Grade: B+
