Marvel Comics has made the move to offering collections, or trades if you prefer, to its digital comics selection on the Comixology platform. The publisher has introduced a variety of top tier titles to its initial slate with prices that don’t have much in the way of consistency, though they’re mirroring the physical trades from what we can tell. Some of the bigger trades offer 12-14 issues run for $25 while others are 5 issue trades running for $8.99, which saves you a buck over buying the singles digitally (if they’re offered). It’s definitely a positive move from Marvel to get collections out there and snap up readers who want to get it all in one whack and file, but consumers can play an easy waiting game here as Marvel has two weekly sales and some of these are likely to show in single comic form sometime and you could conceivably get the same content for much less in that way. But with the way people are looking for trades, especially through the Kindle Fire and other systems, it’s an ideal move and one we hope to see more of (and more aggressive pricing as well for older titles).
