One of the mainstays of the voice acting scene of the past decade across numerous properties is that of Kari Wahlgren. While she does some live action stuff here and there, video games and some non-anime roles, she’s garnered a large part of her fanbase because of the anime roles. Wahlgren got her start back at the beginning of the decade with a role in FLCL from Synch-Point where she took on one of the leading characters with Haruko. Since then, she’s jumped about in a number of works and several Disney roles as well doing voice work. And growing up with kids in my house, there was something fun about seeing her in Wizards of Waverly Place. So as a way of ending out the year by looking at some of the voice actors out there and going into 2012, we thought she’d be an ideal one. So much so in fact that a poll has kicked off with her roles for people to vote on.
For us, Wahlgren has definitely been a key player in a number of shows and stood out in quite a few of them. Her work as Diva in Blood+ got her plenty of attention with it being broadcast on TV, much as FLCL did. And we have a special love for her performance as Anemone from Eureka 7. And as you can tell from the poll linked before, she’s done quite a few roles in Naruto and has likely picked up a few fans along the way there for he work on those characters. She also got to take on one of the best roles that was never fleshed out as much as it should have been as she played Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura, but just for the movie. And her most recent work in Durarara!!, which also got a broadcast run, has certainly expanded her range of fans as she took on the role of Celty.
