More ‘Akira’ Live Action Casting Kookiness Abounds

1 min read

Looking for your latest dose of wacky and silly when it comes to the live action Akira project? Look no further as rumor out of Hollywood is that Warner Bros. is looking to offer two roles to well known actors in order to up the ante a bit even as the budget cuts came before putting the move into greenlit format. The latest comes via Twitch, which has them understanding that the Jaume Collet-Sera directed film wants to have Gary Oldman take on the role of the gruff old Colonel while also offering Helena Bonham Carter the role of Lady Miyako, the elderly spiritualist that galvanizes her own group of followers as the end of Neo-Tokyo gets underway. This all follows up on the report that Warner is looking to get Garret Hedlund to take on the role of Kaneda, but it notes that these two roles are much further in the negotiation stages and could set the tone of the film more.
