CW To Revive ‘Beauty And The Beast’ TV Series

1 min read

Certain to elicit groans and angst from a certain segment of fans, the CW is getting its 2012 TV series development underway and one of the shows being put to task for a pilot is that of a remake of the 1980’s series Beauty and the Beast. The show ran for three seasons, totaling 56 episodes, from 1987 to 1990 and was headlined by Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman. That incarnation produced DVD releases in the last couple of yeras and even had some books made back in the 90’s, including some graphic novels. The new incarnation is going to do what CW does best, make it appeal to the teenage female demographic (which is what it was for to some degree in the 80’s as well, though it skewed older as well) and it looks like it may be a pretty sharp piece too as it’s being written and exec produced by the team behind Without a Trace and Brothers and Sisters.
