‘Gankutsuou’ And ‘Noein’ Get Japanese Blu-ray Dates

2 min read

Two shows that I know I’d love to have in high definition are now making their way onto Blu-ray in Japan, which at least gives some minor hope for the materials to make their ways overseas some day depending on a whole host of factors. A Noein complete series Blu-ray box set is now due out on August 24th for 36,750 yen that will contain all twenty-four episodes plus a pair of soundtracks. The set lists only Japanese PCM stereo sadly. Also due out on that day in a similar configuration with just Japanese PCM stereo is Gankutsuou, which will retailer for 33,600 yen according to CD Japan.

Noein was last released by Manga Entertainment back in January of 2008 as a complete box set.

Plot summary: In the near future, a violent battle takes place between the dimension La’cryma (protector of humanity) and the dimension Shangri-La, bent on the annihilation of all space-time. A group known as the Dragon Calvary is dispatched through space and time, searching for the only thing that can stop the invasion: the Dragon’s Torque.

In the present, twelve-year-old Haruka and her friend Yuu are contemplating running away from home when they meet a member of the Dragon Calvary named Karasu. He believes that Haruka possesses the Dragon’s Torque – and claims to be Yuu from fifteen years in the future…

Gankutusou was last released by FUNimation Entertainment in one of their S.A.V.E. tier packages in April of 2009.

Plot summary: Albert is a young man of privilege in Paris, but the trappings of his aristocratic birth leave him bored and unsatisfied. Seeking adventure, Albert’s restless spirit leads him to a festival on the moon – and to the Count of Monte Cristo.

An enigmatic man of charm and wealth, the Count of Monte Cristo’s charisma and sophistication captivate Albert. The fascinated youth invites the nobleman to mingle within the upper echelons of Parisian society, and the Count is soon courting the favor of France’s most powerful families. Little does Albert know, as his new friend walks the ornate halls of the highest class, the Count of Monte Cristo wants only to bring them crashing down through vengeance.
