First Naruto: Shippuden Movie Gets Disney XD Date

Disney XD is going back to the Naruto: Shippuden well with the first movie now showing up on the schedule for the channel. THe film is set to premiere on Sunday, May 15th at 8PM. Disney XD is continuing to rebrand itself towards an older audience at times in the evening hours. Viz Media previously released this feature in bilingual form back in November of 2009. The first movie from the Shippuden segment of the franchise, the feature was originally released in 2007 with a budget of $29 million. The feature is generally well thought of and even has an 89% rating, based on user ratings, at Rotten Tomatoes.

Plot summary: A powerful spirit that once threatened to destroy the world is back! Naruto’s mission is to protect a priestess named Shion, who is the only one with the power to seal away the monster. She also has the uncanny ability to predict someone’s fate. Her latest prediction: Naruto will soon die. Naruto’s only hope is to abandon Shion, but that’s not Naruto’s style. He decides to face her fatal prediction head-on – and die!
