Leonard Nimoy Set For Sentinel Prime In ‘Transformers 3’

1 min read

The casting for Transformers 3, which opens on July 1st in 3D, continues on as it’s been announced via Entertainment Weekly that Leonard Nimoy will be voicing Sentinel Prime in the Michael Bay Movie. Sentinel Prime is the predecessor to Optimus Prime and was what we saw in the teaser trailer previously as the Transformer that was discovered on the moon during the Apolo 11 landing.

This isn’t Nimoy’s first stint with the Transformers as he took on the role of Galvatron in the 1986 animated movie.

Transformers filmmaker Michael Bay had toyed with the idea of inviting him to play a voice in the second movie, Revenge of the Fallen, but wasn’t sure he could pay the veteran actor enough. “I was too scared to ask him,” the director says. “Plus, he’s married to Susan Bay, who’s a cousin of mine. So I had to be careful. I’ve met him at family functions. But he told me, ‘I would be honored. I’m glad to be back!’”
