‘Daredevil’ To Be Born Again

2 min read

It’s been talked about for a bit but things are coming together for the sequel movie to the 2003 release of Daredevil as David Slade has signed on to direct for Fox. Slade has been busy the last few years, dealing with such notable genre films as 30 Days of Night as well as stepping in to take on the directorial duties for Twilight: Eclipse and was even shortlisted as one of the people that could potentially take on the Wolverine sequel until Darren Aronofsky signed on to that.

The previous film was not what a lot of fans wanted out of it, especially with the casting of Ben Affleck nor the way it spun out an even worse Elektra movie, but some fans were mollified over time when they got a hold of the extended directors cut version which felt smoother. Fox is getting this feature geared up due to the potential rights lapse that will occur and send it back to Marvel/Disney and with the success of the Marvel/Disney films, they want to try and capture some of that themselves. To do so, it appears that they’ll be going back to one of the best storylines from the Daredevil comics with the Frank Miller run entitled “Born Again.”

And now that just leaves us with a casting game to go through for who should take on the role of Matt Murdock.

Book summary: “And I — I have shown him… that a man without hope is a man without fear.” The definitive Daredevil tale! Karen Page, Matt Murdock’s former lover, has traded away the Man Without Fear’s secret identity for a drug fix. Now, Daredevil must find strength as the Kingpin of Crime wastes no time taking him down as low as a human can get. Collects Daredevil #226-233
