Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
As events ramp up, Injustice 2 is hitting some pretty sweet moments based on what’s come before as the characters storylines build into interesting areas. Tom Taylor’s skill at manipulating all of these events and storylines, even at the cost of cutting some of them short or simpler than they might be elsewhere, results in a great ensemble piece in the end. This issue plays with the dual art teams once again which isn’t something I care for but they both work well within their respective areas, with Miller handling the Khandaq sequences again while Redondo and Albarran fill in everything else. There are reasons for it to be done but I really do prefer consistency within a book.

Events in Khandaq start things off as Kara is showing what she’s learned as she takes on Black Adam briefly and does a decent number on him as he actually feels it to a good degree. It’s a setup for Diana to step in and throw down with Kara next to give her something even more challenging but that gets cut short with Damian calling it. We got the push for Amazo to head out last time around and now that he’s striking at New Delhi, where it has a high population density and much pollution, it’s an ideal place from Ra’s point of view to begin the cleansing after the first test went so well. That has this group ready to step up as Damian knows they need some real power hitters – though Kara is being kept hidden and out of this mission as she’s part of something larger.

On the flip side, the footage from the attack (which isn’t shown in much detail here), hits the Batcave and that sends him into action by drawing on everyone associated with the Justice League in the past that’s on the right side of things. Some of the reaction is comical as Ollie’s worries are kind of justified in some ways with what Bats can get into, but mostly it’s a call to arms to head out and defeat this danger. What I really like is that the focus is on the Fortress of Solitude where Cassie is ready to step up but is concerned that Connor may not be physically ready but more than willing to go because it’s the right thing. It’s a good sequence for the two who haven’t been in the book all that long overall, but it’s the time with the Kents and Connor that really lands well with their gift, bringing something back into the book that has been long missing in the right view.

In Summary:
Injustice 2 has been one of the things I look forward to week after week as a dose of connection with a range of characters that I don’t follow in the mainline books. The story is fun, takes chances, really puts characters in danger, and builds to some big events where the consequences get to be dealt with. This issue is pushing us hard and fast to action with a face-off with Amazo and it should be a pretty strong throwdown depending on who all gets involved and how alliances can shift and change. It’s a solid looking book in both of its main sequences and there’s a lot to like here as a piece of a larger whole.
