“The Cats’ Day 2″”

Konagai Tomoko is a first-year in high school and a shy girl. Tomoko owns three cats. The cheerful and live Munchkin Maa, the smart and responsible Russian Blue Rou, and the gentle crybaby Singapura Shii. Tomoko, whose only friends were her cats, one day becomes friends with Shiratori Azumi, who also loves cats. This is a fluffy and cute comedy about the daily life of Tomoko and her cats, Tomoko and Azumi’s friendship, and the interaction between cats.

After shifting focus more fully to the cast the last time around, this episode continues that as we get to see Rou playing with the TV and taking in programs that show off the world a bit. Of course, each of the cats have their own interests so there’s plenty of fight which in turn leads to Maa and Rou having it out a bit while Shii tries to be the peacemaker. It’s cute and silly in all the right ways, especially as she goes to Yuuko for help when she gets home in dealing with it. Thankfully, Yuuko has the right solution with a cute cat toy. It’s not like cat’s can’t be distracted…
In Summary:
Nyanko Days has easily established what kind of show it is and what it wants to do with its brief running time so you either know if it works for you or not. I find it to be a cute little passing of the time kind of show with some nice moments of animation and “awww, cute, kitties” bits along the way. This one with its focus on the cats is fun but feels like another round of missed opportunities to really run with it with some silly gags. It’s not bad or anything but it’s just kind of mediocre overall considering what it could be doing.
