1 min read

Dai-guardAdd another old ADV films license to the rescue pile as Discotek Media has picked up Dai-Guard. Originally known as Chikyuu Bouei Kigyou Dai-Guard when it aired back in 1999 for two cour, the twenty-six episode series saw release a few years later on DVD in North America. The original production was directed by Seiji Mizushima at Xebec with Mitsuru Ishihara serving as the character designer and chief animation director.

Discotek Media is looking at a March 2016 release plan for this series.

Plot concept: Thirteen years after their sudden disappearance, an alien race known as the Heterodyne resurface without warning. To combat the Heterodyne, three office workers from the 21st Century Security Corporation operate Dai-Guard – a giant robot no longer regarded as an oversized paperweight. Unfortunately, Dai-Guard is somewhat obsolete and in disrepair. It’s a tough job, but salarymen can also save the world.
