The short form anime field has a lot of potential to do interesting things that fit into other programs as cute aspects. After all, this is how The Simpsons got their start years ago as part of the Tracy Ullman show. With Anime de Training EX, we get a show that provides a fun physical training component with fanservice. This episode opens with the viewer being greeted by one of the girls who gives us grief for being late before getting into some serious push-up time with us. There are some hilarious angles to be used that are highly sexual and you can easily imagine this getting certain fans to exercise along with her. It mixes in some cute aspects outside of the training but related to it that adds to the silliness – and encouragement – and you have to admire the dedication here.
In Summary:
After watching a show like Pillow Boys last season, which was vilified by many fans, I’m expecting this one to be held up as a paragon of awesomeness. It’s just as creepy in a different way and just as hilarious in a similar way. I get the point of it to be sure as it mixes sexiness, cuteness and fanservice together and by god they do it well. I’d write more but I’m exhausted from doing the pushups and crunches from this.
