NIS America is going to make a lot of people happy today with this news as they’re now announced that Love Live! School Idol Project will be receiving a full English dub for both the 1st and 2nd Season. The new releases that will be coming will feature the English dub, as well as the original Japanese voice track with English subtitles for the North American market. Release details of 2nd Season will be announced at a later date, and the English dubbed version of the 1st Season will only be released as a standard edition.

To commemorate the English dub, NIS America will also be releasing a limited reprint in July of Love Live! School Idol Project 1st Season Premium Edition with original Japanese audio and English subtitles.

In addition to that, they’ve acquired the rights to the Love Live! The School Idol Movie, which will be coming to select theaters in North America! The plans are for the theatrical screenings to be done beginning on September 12, 2015, with the original Japanese voice track and English subtitles. This limited theatrical release will be showing in, but will not be limited to, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, New York City, and Washington, D.C. with more details to be announced later.

TV series plot concept: Otonokizaka High School is planning to close within three years. However, nine female students come together with one thing in mind—to form an idol group to revive the school’s popularity and keep it from shutting down. “In order to protect our beloved school, there’s only one thing we can do… become school idols!” Their goal is simple: become an overnight sensation and use their nationwide media exposure to promote their school and bring in a wave of new students to the ailing area. A simple but solid plan, they figure. Naturally, they’re nervous and wonder if this plan can really succeed, but for better or worse their journey continues…

Movie plot concept: Although μ’s, the defending champions of the school idol tournament, plans to dissolve their group after the graduation of their senior members, they receive news that leads them to holding a concert event! The 9 girls continue to learn and grow in this new and unfamiliar world. What is the last thing that these girls can do as school idols? With the clock ticking, what kind of meaning will the μ’s members find in performing the most exciting live performance?

  1. All I can say is one of those cities “to be named at a later date” better include Toronto. 😉

  2. Can’t wait for the extra details to be released! Hopefully the Standard Edition will come out as a Blu-ray from the get-go, since it features a dub. Also, since they seem to be emphasizing the English dub being featured only on the standard edition, does this mean Season 2 won’t be getting a Standard Edition? Or will both the Season 2 Premium and Standard Editions feature the English dub? I have so many questions!
