When it comes to the fall 2014 series World Trigger, adaptation the manga of the same name by Daisuke Ashihara, we’ve had a slew of cast announcements spread out over a few weeks. But we didn’t have much beyond that overall. That’s changed a bit now as we’re getting closer to the release and the upcoming issue of Shonen Jump has revealed some of the details. The series is set to be directed by Mitsuru Hongo at Toei Animation based on scripts by Hiroyuki Yoshino and character designs by Toshihisa Kaiya, who is also handling the animation director duties. Kenji Kawai has surfaced again to provide the score for the series.

The cast includes:

Yuuki Kaji as Osamu Mikumo
Nobuhiko Okamoto
Rie Kugimiya
Jun Fukuyama
Hideyuki Tanaka – Replica
Nao Tamura as Chika Amatori
Tomo Muranaka as Yuma Kuga
Yuichi Nakamura as Yuichi Jin
Rie Kugimiya as Kirie Konami
Jun Fukuyama as Kyōsuke Karasuma
Tomoaki Maeno as Reiji Kizaki
Keiji Fujiwara as Takumi Rindō
Takeshi Kusao as Masafumi Shinoda
Masakazu Morita as Shūji Miwa

Nobuhiko Okamoto as as Jun Arashiyama

The upcoming anime adaptation is going to be working off the manga that began last year in Weekly Shonen Jump, which has been available digitally in North America to readers via Viz Media. They’ve got an October 7th, 2014 release date planned for the first installment in compiled form for North America. Check out the Japanese promo for the manga below.

Plot concept: Destroy thy Neighbor! A gate to another dimension has burst open, and invincible monsters called Neighbors invade Earth. Osamu Mikumo may not be the best among the elite warriors who co-opt other-dimensional technology to fight back, but along with his Neighbor friend Yuma, he’ll do whatever it takes to defend life on Earth as we know it.

Upstanding Osamu always does the right thing, whether it means pitching in to save Earth after school or turning the other cheek to bullies. But when he meets a feisty humanoid Neighbor named Yuma, everything that he thinks is right is turned on its head. Can the two natural enemies ever become friends?
