While things took a fairly circular route in the previous episode, focusing more on the secondary characters and where their plots were going in this Greed Island arc, it all did have a point and put the characters into the necessary positions. But now it’s been ten days since the last meeting and events are starting to come to a head since some of them must meet up with Gon and the others in order to get the cards that they’re owed. But as we see here, the switch is in and the team has worked well to replace a lot of the cards with fakes so that Bomber and his group aren’t holding all the power now. But there’s a lot more to be done to get things where they really want it since they don’t want this group to come across as the winners, especially for those that are just enjoying the fun that is this game itself.

So things take on a fun approach when Bomber makes his entrance with his team in the desert with Gon, Killua and Bisky and Gon and plays up that they really didn’t expect them, luring them further into the trap and making Bomber believe he has the upper hand completely. This ends up leading to a pretty fun chase overall as Bomber and his group are pretty insistent on getting their cards, and you see just how well the plan has gone, including the way they end up separating into one on one matches, which helps to cement the plan more. The way they play it is comical on the surface since it just goes for traditional role material, but seeing the inner dialogue of the primary trio helps to show just how much of it is just that, show.

With some mediocre action scenes as of late, excepting the end of the volleyball match, Hunter x Hunter gets to show of really well here as it leaps about and then brings things to a head at the forest that they’re in. The flow of the attacks is nicely done, especially since it’s all a planned trap, and seeing the skills works nicely as the trio does their job to deal with Bomber and his men. Where things get really fun is when we get to see Bisky do her transformation and really show off what she’s capable of, making for a striking transition from what we thought of her to what she truly is. Killua gets some decent time as well, but his fight is one that feels more like an afterthought with what’s going on elsewhere, but that’s not a bad thing as events once again come down to Gon as he does what he can to move things towards the groups prepared plan.

In Summary:
Hunter x Hunter has a pretty good episode here that’s focused on the action, and action with a cause and a point. The plan that the trio has put into motion should deal with Bomber and his plans pretty well, but it has to be pulled off just right. And there’s always surprises in store with what the opponents can do, but we also get a good reveal with Bisky’s true form revealed as well. The show has had a fair bit of action throughout, and we had some decent moments in the volleyball sub arc, but it’s here that it feels like things actually and truly mean something. The teamwork is strong, the animation is spot on and it’s all moving right along in a pretty engaging way that gets me back on track with actually enjoying this arc once again.
