Crossovers in comics are certainly nothing new, but it’s always fun to watch the respective fanbases either view it with interest as something that could be interesting or simply freak out and declare it unholy. So with two big name science fiction properties coming out in one book in May from IDW Publishing, the Star Trek / Doctor Who series will certainly cause plenty of angst. The series is set to run for eight issues under the name of Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation 2, it’ll be written by Scott Tipton and David Tipton with the longtime Doctor Who writer Tony Leeseries. IDW will also produce a rare wraparound photo cover.
Plot Concept: The driving force behind this crossover event is an unholy alliance between the Borg and the Cybermen, which could spell disaster for humanity without the intervention of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, his Next Generation cohorts, and everyone’s favorite Timelord.
