‘G.I. Joe 2’ Gets 2D Only Release

2 min read

After the first wave of surprising news about G.I. Joe 2 with John Chu taking on the directing reins after Stephen Sommers showed no interest in returning and the news that the actors for Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes and Duke were the only primary ones reprising their roles, it’s been rather quiet. The feature has a release date of August 2012 so things have to start rolling along soon in order to make that and the folks at Collider did some digging and found out a couple of things. While Chu was very keen on doing the movie in 3D, especially after his experiences with the last couple of films he’s done, it looks like Paramount has put the kibosh on that and the movie will be 2D only and it won’t receive a 3D post conversion either.

In addition to that, it looks like the filming locations will be quite different a well. The first movie spent a lot of its time in Los Angeles for filming but Collider has found that the sequel will be shooting down in New Orleans.

Expect more casting news to start coming about in the next two months as the principle photography dates get closer and the under wraps storyline gets a bit clearer.
