While those who follow film productions closely are all too aware of the drama surrounding Ant-Man getting off the ground, the majority of the movie-going audience next summer won’t have a clue – and they’ll likely be riding off the high of Avengers: Age of Ultron and seeing the Marvel Studios brand as well. With production having started earlier today for the film, a few new little things have come out regarding the production. The film has added a few more actors to the mix which can tease some story elements. John Slattery is now listed, which means he’s reprising his role as Howard Stark and that means we’ll have some decent flashback scenes to the past with Michael Douglas and his initial exploration of the powers that come from the suit. In addition to that, Judy Greer has joined the film in an unknown capacity as well as Bobby Cannavale, Abby Ryder Fortson, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, Gregg Turkington and T.I.
Directed by Peyton Reed, the film lands on July 17th, 2015. It stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Michael Peña, Patrick Wilson, Evangeline Lilly, and Corey Stoll.
Plot concept: Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
