As more and more is handled with the third season of Arrow that’s set to debut in early October 2014 on The CW, we’re seeing them move forward in a pretty creative way in mining various aspects of the DC Comics universe. After adding Devon Aoki earlier this week for the role of Katana in the season, we now have a reworking of a previously seen character for the third season. As we’ve seen in the DC Comics universe over the years, both heroes and villains change over time as new people take on the mantle and that looks to be happening here as well. Previously played in the series by Seth Gabel, Peter Stormare is taking on the role of Count Vertigo. Gabel’s character met an unfortunate end along the way and Stormare’s arrival is one that has him playing the same villain name but with a different person underneath. This one is working off of the New 52 comics with Werner Zytle, who is going to be taking on the name and the drug trade that made up Seth Gable’s storyline. It’s likely not a big role, perhaps a couple of episodes at best, but one that will be useful in tying together a few things and giving us a different Count Vertigo to work with. Stormare’s got a lengthy credits list to his name – he worked on 9 films alone in 2013 – and he’s done lots of TV in the last 20 years with single episode appearances for the most part.
