Star Wars – A Family That Geeks Together Edition

2 min read

Welcome to this week’s edition of Star Wars Thursday, a celebration of all things fun, wild, and wacky in the Star Wars universe.

As dedicated fanboys, one of our greatest responsibilities is to indoctrinate…err…teach the next generation to be as passionate about Star Wars as we are. For the record, they don’t need to be our own children. They can be nieces, nephews, or even just a friend’s kid.

So, whether you support the Rebel Alliance or are an Imperial sympathizer, take a moment to think about how you can create Padawans in the world around you. Then take another moment to enjoy these videos of some younglings who aren’t “too old to begin the training”.

It’s a rite of passage to teach toddlers to mimic animal noises. How can we add the Force to this tradition? Check it out!

Spending multiple evenings watching the original Star Wars trilogy with small children is simply good citizenship. Listening to a little girl describing the events of A New Hope and warning you not to talk back to Darth Vader or “he’ll get ya” – that’s priceless.

Finally, as responsible adults, we need to carefully consider how we talk to children about Star Wars. In what order should they experience the magic? Do we allow them to make their own judgements about Jar Jar? About Han and Greedo? Such questions are key to creating fully functional members of society, and there is only one right answer. Talk to your kids about Star Wars – or they will learn it from their friends.
