
As a fan of Nichijou, the announcement that Keiichi Arawi’s CITY manga getting an anime adaptation has me quite excited. Kyoto Animation announced the project in September 2024 with plans for a 2025 debut from the studio. It’ll be directed by Taichi Ishidate with Tamami Tokuyama as the character designer and chief animation director for it.
With a formal July 6th, 2025, premiere date set recently, the latest update is a pair of cast additions to the show with Kazutomi Yamamoto as Obaba and Kiyomitsu Mizuchi as Ii Hito.
The Japanese cast includes:

The series features the opening theme song “Hello” performed by TOMOO while the ending theme song is “Lucky” performed by Piranhans.
The manga comes from Keiichi Arawi which began in 2016 and wrapped up in 2021 with thirteen volumes before restarting again in 2025. It saw a print release through Vertical and is available digitally through K Manga.
