
We learned back in April 2021 with the 50th-anniversary of the debut of Kamen Rider in Japan back in 1971 that the first full anime series for the property was in the works. FUUTO PI debuted on August 1st, 2022 debut, and had a solid if somewhat quiet run.
This summer, a feature anime film was announced for a November 8th, 2024 release with Futo Tantei: Kamen Rider Skull no Shozo. It’s been a quiet production for the most part but a new bit of information has surfaced with the running time revealed to be 82 minutes total.
Yousuke Kabashima is directing it based on the series composition done by Tatsuo Higuchi. Hidekazu Ebina is handling the character designs with Studio KAI handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Makoto Furukawa as Ryū Terui, Mikako Komatsu as Akiko Narumi, Kouki Uchiyama as Philip, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Shotaro Hidari, Akira Sekine as Tokime, and Daisuke Ono as Yukiji Bandō.
The opening theme being “Private Eye” by former live-action Kamen Rider, Mitsuru Matsuoka. The ending theme song is “Tsumi to Batsu to Underground” from Big Gadgets featuring Aya Kamiki with TAKUYA.
Plot Concept: The story is canonically set after the events of Kamen Rider W (the 11th of ther Heisei era), which aired in 2009. It follows private investigator Shotaro Hidari and the mysterious boy Philip, two strangers who become one Kamen Rider!
