A new anime adaptation is in the works with the manga series The Yokai Next to Me announced back in April 2023. We knew this summer that it was set for a 2024 debut and would be a TV series but it’s now been set for an April 2024 premiere with the drop of a new promotional video and a new key visual.

The series has Aimi Yamauchi directing it from the scripts by Tomoko Konparu. Shigemitsu Abe is handling the character designs with LIDEN FILMS on the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Asaki Yuikawa as Mutsumi “Mu-chan” Sugimoto
  • Ryosuke Higa as Jirōbō “Jirō” Enkazan
  • Yuuki Kaji as Buchio Ōishi
