2023 is looking to shape up with some interesting projects already and now the announcement has landed that a new Trigun anime adaptation is in the works with Trigun Stampede. The new series, which Crunchyroll has already announced their pickup of, is set for a debut next year with a worldwide simulcast through Crunchyroll. With the series set for a January 2023 debut, the official site has been updated with a January 7th, 2023 premiere date for it along with a new promotional video.

The opening theme song is from Kvi Baba with “TOMBI” while the ending theme is “Hoshi no Kuzu a” as performed by Salyu.

With studio Orange handling it, Kenji Mutou is directing it with Kouji Tajima on board as the concept designer and the new character designer for it.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Vash the Stampede
  • Junya Ikeda as Knives Millions
  • Tomoyo Kurosawa as Young Vash
  • Yumiri Hanamori as Young Knives

Based on the manga by Yasuhiro Nightow, the 1998 TV series was directed by Satoshi Nishimura based on the series composition by Yousuke Kuroda. It saw release originally through Pioneer and ended up with Funimation over time and was added to Crunchyroll for streaming in May 2022.

Plot Concept: Vash the Stampede is a gunman on the run with a 60 billion double dollar bounty on his head which has made it difficult for him to go anywhere without being chased and shot at. Every town he ever visits ends up being destroyed because of his pursuers, but miraculously no one ever gets killed. Meryl and Milly are two insurance agents that have been sent to find Vash the Stampede and keep him under surveillance so no more damage is caused. Meryl, who leads the pair, refuses to believe that the man they have met can possibly be the legendary gunman. This spikey-haired, gangly, young man is extremely friendly, a pacifist, hates blood and suicide, absolutely loves donuts, and is a dork and a crybaby (far from a notorious outlaw). But there is more to Vash and his past than meets the eye.
