‘Moonlight Mile’ Manga Returns After Ten Years

It returns!

One of the more enjoyable single-cour anime series I saw back in the late 2000s was the Moonlight Mile project. It was based on the manga by Yasuo Ohtagaki which began in 20001 in Big Comic Superior and was sput on hold in 2011 after twenty-three volumes were released in 2012. The manga saw an anime adaptation in 2007 which was dubbed and released by ADV Films and later released by Funimation.

The manga itself was put on hold in 2011 as Ohtagaki took on the Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt series, which for many will be a fair trade. But now, Ohtagaki is going back to the series with plans for it to debut this coming winter. He does suffer from tenosynovitis and is adjusting his style – which caused him to put Thunderbolt on hiatus brief in 2018 – and to compensate as he can, so it’s uncertain especially after ten years how the Moonlight Mile book may look.

Check out our review of the anime series.

Plot Concept: Daredevils Goro Saruwatari and Jack “Lostman” Woodbridge climbed every daunting peak on planet Earth, but they couldn’t quench their desire to go even higher. Now, the adventurers vow to conquer space no matter what the cost. And when a precious source of energy is discovered on Mars, Goro and Lostman suddenly find their dreams within reach. They blast off for the far reaches of the galaxy seeking fame and fast women, but discover that hitching a ride on a rocket can get you burned. Undaunted, the astronauts throw caution to the wind and learn that the distance between a hero and his destiny is only a Moonlight Mile.
