With Netflix bringing out the original Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series as well as the two feature films that were produced with Death True and The End of Evangelion last year, Netflix is doing some new promotion for it. The streaming service dropped a three-minute piece focusing Asuka suiting up during a difficult spot while having to deal with a problematic Shinji. Check it out below.
The 1995 TV series was directed by Hideaki Anno with character designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. Gainax and Tatsunoko Production worked on the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Kotono Mitsuishi as Misato Katsuragi, Megumi Hayashibara as Rei Ayanami, Megumi Ogata as Shinji Ikari, Yuko Miyamura as Asuka Langley Sohryu, Akira Ishida as Kaworu Nagisa, Fumihiko Tachiki as Gendou Ikari, Hiro Yuuki as Makoto Hyuuga, Junko Iwao as Hikari Horaki, Kōichi Yamadera as Ryouji Kaji, Megumi Hayashibara as, Pen Pen and Yui Ikari, Miki Nagasawa as Maya Ibuki, Motomu Kiyokawa as Kouzou Fuyutsuki, Mugihito as Keel Lorentz, Takehito Koyasu as Shigeru Aoba, Tetsuya Iwanaga as Kensuke Aida, Tomokazu Seki as Touji Suzuhara, and Yuriko Yamaguchi as Ritsuko Akagi.
The opening theme song “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis” was performed by Yoko Takahashi while the ending theme song “Fly Me to the Moon” was performed by multiple artists including Claire, Megumi Hayashibara, Aya, Yoko Takashi, and Aki.
Property Concept: At the turn of the century, the Angels returned to Earth, seeking to wipe out humanity in an apocalyptic fury.
