The fall 2020 anime series Jujutsu Kaisen is working through its second cour and it looks like as more data comes in the reality is there; this is one of those rare properties that’s really getting a huge boost through its anime adaptation. While some series see some minor bumps and go up enough to ensure they’re still viable, a lot don’t see any real bump at all and can find themselves canceled relatively soon.

With Jujutsu Kaisen, the data coming in reveals that the series has had a 290% increase in compiled volume circulation since its debut four months ago. It’s gone from 8.5 million copies in print in October 2020 to 20 million copies as of January 13th, 2021. With the full slate of volumes, sixteen total, all charting from the second place on with only the latest Attack on Titan ahead of it in the top spot. Suffice to say, there’s likely a chance that more anime will be coming for this property.

The currently ongoing TV anime series features Sunghoo Park directing the series based on the scripts from Hiroshi Seko. Tadashi Hiramatsu is adapting the original character designs and MAPPA will be handling the animation for the production.

The Japanese cast includes Junya Enoki as Yūji Itadori, Yūma Uchida as Megumi Fushiguro, Asami Seto as Nobara Kugisaki, Junichi Suwabe as Sukuna Ryomen, Mikako Komatsu as Maki Zenin, Kouki Uchiyama as Toge Inumaki, Kenjiro Tsuda as Kento Nanami, and Tomokazu Seki as Panda. Additional cast includes Nobunaga Shimazaki as Mahito, Takahiro Sakurai as Suguru Geto, Atsuko Tanaka as Hanami, Shigeru Chiba as Shogo, Marina Inoue as Mai Zen’in, Subaru Kimura as Aoi Todo, Mugihito as Yoshinobu Gakuganji, Chinatsu Akasaki as Kazumi Miwa, Aya Endo as Shoko Ieiri, Takaya Kuroda as Masamichi Yaga, Yoshitaka Yamaya as Junpei Yoshino, and Mitsuo Iwata as Kiyotaka Ijichi.

The series comes from Gege Akutami which began in 2018 and has eleven volumes out as of June 2020.

The series has set Eve to perform the opening theme song “Kaikai Kitan” while Ali will handle the ending with “Lost in Paradise feat. AKLO.”

Plot Concept: Hardship, regret, shame: the negative feelings that humans feel become Curses that lurk in our everyday lives. The Curses run rampant throughout the world, capable of leading people to terrible misfortune and even death. What’s more, the Curses can only be exorcised by another Curse.

Itadori Yuji is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life. One day, to save a friend who has been attacked by Curses, he eats the finger of the Double-Faced Specter, taking the Curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with the Double-Faced Specter. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Gojo Satoru, Itadori is admitted to the Tokyo Metropolitan Technical High School of Sorcery, an organization that fights the Curses… and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a Curse to exorcise a Curse, a life from which he could never turn back.
