After the spring 2019 anime adaptation of the manga series Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki by Masaki Ando, a second season arrived with a January 5th, 2020 premiere. Both shows saw a Crunchyroll pickup and the short-form series did fairly well in highlighting Nagoya. We learned earlier this year that a third season has been commissioned with a January 10th, 2021 debut while the second season will get rebroadcast beginning December 13th, 2020. Now, a new promo has arrived for the new season that reveais that Taiki is performing the opening theme song “Zasso Damashii Namennayo” which you can hear within the promo.

The main staff and cast will be returning for it, giving it welcome continuity there.

The project has confirmed Maria Naganawa as Serura Dobe and Junji Majima as Masahide Tsuji while also revealing that Taiki Yamazaki will perform the theme song for this season.

The series is set with Hisayoshi Hirasawa directing it with Satsuki Hayasaka as the character designer. Saetta is listed as working on the animation with Creators in the Pack cooperating.

The Japanese cast so far includes Haruka Tomatsu as Monaka Yatogame, Yuki Wakai as Mai Tadakusa, Mikako Komatsu as Yanna Sasatus, Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Kaito Jin, and Hisako Tojo as Haka Jin. Several new characters have been cast with Yoshino Nanjō as Lala, Eriko Matsui as Rarin Janda, Kenji Akabane as Teppei, Honoka Kuroki as Mutsuki Ittenmae, Ayasa Itō as Nao Koshiyasu, Tetsu Inada as Recchiri-sensei, Maria Naganawa as Serura Dobe, and Junji Majima as Masahide Tsuji.

Plot Concept: After growing up in Tokyo, high school student Jin Kaito moves to Nagoya where he meets Yatogame Monaka, a fellow student who puts her Nagoya dialect on full display. With her cat-like appearance and unvarnished Nagoya dialect, Yatogame won’t open up to him at all. This popular local comedy is increasing the status of Nagoya through observation of the adorable Yatogame-chan!
