What They Say:
Wealthy heiress Catarina Claes is hit in the head with a rock and recovers the memories of her past life. It turns out the world she lives in is the world of the game Fortune Lover, an otome game she was obsessed with in her past life… but she’s been cast as the villain character who tries to foil the protagonist’s romances! The best ending the game has for Catarina is exile, and the worst, death! She’ll have to find a way to avoid triggering the flags of doom, and make her own happy future! The misunderstanding-based screwball love comedy now begins!

Catarina is being accused of committing evil deeds by her classmates! And by classmates, I mean those mean girls that you saw bullying Maria earlier in the series. In fact, they’re saying that Catarina is the one bullying Maria! Ironic, isn’t it? Catarina doesn’t think she has done anything wrong but remembers that all of this feels familiar. Oh, this is Catarina’s judgment event that leads towards her doom ending! Wait, that’s bad. Also, it’s playing out differently from the game. Geordo and the others join the scene a few moments later. This isn’t looking good. Is she going to exiled or worse, killed!? Is this how it ends!?!?

Nah, it’s all good. Maria reads the charges against Catarina and calls them rubbish. Don’t besmirch the good name of Catarina Claes! Everyone agrees. In a hilarious scene, everyone also states that it would be impossible for Catarina to do any of the things she was accused of. Why? Because she’s not clever enough to come up with such elaborate schemes. I kid you not. Basically, everyone takes a shot at Catarina for being so simple-minded. To put it even more simply, they all call her an idiot, haha. Maria admits that she has been bullied but not by Catarina. If they want, she’d be happy to name the perpetrators. Of course, that’s when the mean girls run away. Yeah, you better run! Maria notices something odd as they leave though. The mean girls are covered in a black fog. No one else seems to notice. Very peculiar.

Catarina’s tummy rumbles. Well, I guess it’s time for sweets! Never change, Bakarina. While she’s happily nomming on sweets, everyone else is discussing what just happened. They knew those girls held a grudge against Catarina. But what was the purpose of this? Also, everything seemed too elaborate. They don’t believe the girls are capable of this. Suspiciously, they were also called away during the commotion. Something fishy is going on. Catarina isn’t sweating it though. She’s just happy to have avoided the doom flag! Later, everyone heads back to class. On the way, Maria notices a black fog in the courtyard! She tells Catarina that she has something to take care of and that they should go on ahead without her. Catarina regrets not going with Maria that day. That was the last time anyone saw her! Uh oh, things just got real.

Two days later, Maria still hasn’t been found. Catarina is still blaming herself for not accompanying her on that day. Three days go by and they still haven’t found any clues. Geordo visits Catarina one night to share some information with her. He explains that the evidence the mean girls gathered against her wasn’t put together by them. Someone else did. It also appears that they were brainwashed. The mean girls have no recollection of what they did or who told them to do it. It’s almost as if they were being controlled by someone. Is that even possible? Geordo states that it is for someone who possesses dark magic. Dark magic is dangerous and can manipulate people’s hearts. And the dark magic user’s target? Catarina. Well, that’s certainly a doom flag. But what about Maria? Why was she taken? Probably because she has light magic. It’s said those wield it can detect dark magic. That makes sense. Maria probably found the dark magic user and was silenced. Oh no! And if that wasn’t bad enough, we learn that you can’t be born with dark magic. You have to acquire it and you obtain it by performing a ritual that involves offering a human life. Yup, you obtain dark magic by killing someone. That’s dark. I guess that’s why it’s called dark magic, huh? I know, that was a terrible joke. Leave me alone.

Catarina has a terrible nightmare that night. Everyone dies in it! That sounds awful. Things can’t end that way, right? She has trouble sleeping for the rest of the night. The next day at school, Catarina passes out. She spends most of the day sleeping in the nurse’s office. Once recovered, she walks around the school before taking a break in the courtyard. She’s greeted by the Student Council president a few moments later. Wait, what’s he doing here? Isn’t class still in session? It’s at that moment that Catarina remembers something that her friend Acchan told her about Fortune Lover. There was a hidden character you could conquer but he was a dangerous guy that could use dark magic. If you failed to conquer him, he’d kill everyone! That seems like an intense route. By the way, this character has red hair and gray eyes. Doesn’t that remind you of somebody? Yup, it’s the Student Council president. The dark magic user is Sirius Dieke. Shocking truth! He seemed like such a nice guy! He admits that being a nice guy was all just an act and that he took Maria. She learned things that she shouldn’t have. You bastard! Watching Catarina being nice to everyone irritates him to no end. She knows what he’s doing is terrible but she can’t help but notice a sadness in his eyes. Catarina places a hand on his cheek and asks him if he’s alright? This catches him off-guard for a brief moment but it only serves to infuriate him even more. The episode ends with Sirius engulfing Catarina in dark fog with tears in his eyes. Dang! That’s all I have to say.

In Summary:
The plot thickens! It’s always the quiet ones that you have to watch out for. They are never as nice as they seem! You had everyone fooled, Sirius Dieke. As your name suggests, you’re a serious dick. But why did you turn to the dark side? I’m sure there’s a sad story behind his actions. We’ll probably find out what it is in the next episode! That being said, I’m glad the story is moving forward again. Catarina is finally faced with a real doom flag! Sadly, I don’t think she was prepared for this type of situation. If only she had managed to conquer the secret route in the game! Although, I do admire that even when she was in danger, she was still concerned about Sirius. That’s just the type of person she is. It’s no wonder everyone falls in love with her! On a closing note, it was hilarious at the start of the episode that everyone’s defense for Catarina not being guilty is because she’s an idiot. Simply fantastic.
