HBO Max ‘Green Lantern’ Project Gets Additional Tease

2 min read

We learned back in October 2019 with the push for the HBO Max streaming service that a Green Lantern project was in the works along with Strange Adventures based on the DC Comics properties. They’re coming under Berlanti productions which has handled the majority of recent DC efforts on TV and just had a major run with the Crisis on Infinite Earths showing. Within that final episode, we got a brief tease toward the Green Lantern series though it used footage from the previous film I believe.

As part of the TCA’s this week, HBO Max’s Sarah Aubrey talke about the Green Lantern show a bit in saying that the series is intent on spanning generations but with a focus. “It’s going to span several decades on focus on two stories about Green Lanterns on Earth.” There’ll also be a space-set storyline going as well.

What it looks like they’re doing is building it as an origin for Sinestro as “all roads” lead to him, which sets him as the big bad for the property to be explored against.

“Both of these original DC properties we’ll be creating for HBO Max will be unlike anything seen on television,” said Berlanti, who announced both projects at the HBO Max WarnerMedia Day presentation back in October 2019. “An anthology series of cautionary tales set in a world where superpowers exist, and, in what promises to be our biggest DC show ever made, we will be going to space with a Green Lantern television series, but I can’t reveal any more about that just yet.”
