The upcoming Dark Phoenix film is the first one in the mainline continuity to not use the X-Men name in the title and it’s also probably the film most delayed, with a couple of different dates so far. The most recent date change is one that they’re still sticking with as it was pushed to a June 7th, 2019 debut. The film is on track to be the weakest of all the films in the franchise as its set to close things out and likely put the property to rest for a few years before reintroducing it in some new way through Marvel Studios.

Plot Concept: In 1992, nearly a decade after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, the X-Men are national heroes going on increasingly risky missions. When a solar flare hits them during a rescue mission in space, Jean Grey loses control of her abilities and unleashes the Phoenix.
