What They Say
Kazehaya and Sawako have finally graduated from high school. When Sawako goes away to university, will their relationship withstand the distance? And what will become of their close group of high school friends? Kazehaya and Sawako’s quirky story about love and life concludes in the exciting final volume of Kimi ni Todoke!

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Everyone has graduated and it’s both Kazehaya and Sawako’s turn to find out if they passed their tests to their respective colleges. They both pass and it’s full of congratulations, parties and looking for new places to live. When Sawako helps Kazehya move into his new place, the feelings of being newlyweds is overwhelming and makes both of them very happy. Kazehaya even asks Sawako to marry him when they are done with school. But, when it’s time for Sawako to leave him and go back home until she moves, she finds herself not wanting to leave his side.

Kazehaya takes her back to his place for the night. Sawako has to tell her family where she is and then the embarrassment for both Kazehaya and Sawako intensifies as they stop by a convenience store for a few overnight supplies for Sawako. The extreme awkwardness continues as they go back to Kazehaya’s place and there are showers to be taken and thoughts of being alone together at night intensifies. And that night, the couple does more than cuddle.

It’s time for Sawako to go to her new school and place. Chizu meets her at the platform to see her off, but when Kazehaya shows up unexpectedly, she bows out, though not very gracefully. Kazehaya sends her off with a kiss and a letter. Then they both call each by their first name for the first time.

In Summary:
It’s hard to believe this series has come to end. It was such a beautiful and well-written story with gorgeous art. The soft and pure love between Sawako and Kazehaya is touching and long-lasting, which is a bit unusual. Often in shojo, it takes until nearly the last volume before the couple actually gets together. I felt bittersweet when I read the end and closed the book. I would love to see a glimpse of Sawako and Kazehaya after they graduate from college. It would really give closure to a wonderful series.
