The Agents of G.A.T.E. vs. the Brothers of the Bomb

Creative Staff:
Writer: Matt Kindt
Art: Juan Jose Ryp

Letters: Dave Sharpe

What they say:
In a realm far more fantastical than our own, a Sky Goddess is missing… And in pursuit of their vanished cosmic princess and her nefarious captors, a squadron of soldiers from the Unknown have invaded our planet! As tensions run high and trust becomes scarce, can X-O Manowar and G.A.T.E. leader Colonel Capshaw band together to keep our world from becoming ensnared in a battle larger than life?

Content (please note that content portions may contain spoilers):
At the ending of last month’s XO Manowar, we were sitting idly by as Aric and Jamie Capshaw study a giant hovering sphere. Inside the area, we meet the Brothers of the Bomb and are treated to their ongoing battle with the Simulacrum, a race of sentient robots who only care about the 1 and 0’s of their existence and not the races of humanoids they have enslaved.

After a brief spat, the two factions begin to see that they are on the same side of the conflict with David Camp. Camp, a warrior from the same planet as the Brothers of the Bomb has kidnapped Tagg the Sky Princess, wife of one of the Brothers. As Capshaw applies aid to the otherworldly group, Aric and members of the Brotherhood travel down under to New Eden in search of Camp who has chosen to go under the new name the Cartographer. The Cartographer is the most dangerous kind of villain, the kind that believes he is the only person who can save the planet. His belief is an excellent trait for a villain because it gives Matt Kindt a grey area to operate inside of. Now the Cartographer has the chance of being redeemed, as well as plunging the world into darkness.

In Summary:
The Brotherhood of the Bomb poses a different problem to Aric and Col Capshaw. Their unique energy signature makes Aric’s XO armor useless, but they are still able to be damaged by Kate’s rifle. Setting the stage for a confrontation that I’m not sure our heroes will escape from. Kindt has done a great job with this storyline. It’s engaging, places us in exotic locales, and for one of the few times, XO has a blaring flaw which could lead to his defeat.
