One of the early key titles that got Right Stuf into the anime game in a bigger way, and into DVD as well way back when, was The Irresponsible Captain Tylor. The series is one that still holds a special place for a lot of anime fans and definitely warrants a look at by the more recent wave of viewers out there. They’re now looking to get this really fun show out on Blu-ray for the first time in North American. The property consists of 26 episodes plus the 10 part OVA series that will be released in 2 sets on Blu-ray in North America for the first time with details to be announced soon.
The show is based on a series of novels by Hitoshi Yoshioka and was directed by Koichi Mashimo (Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Noir, Sorcerer Hunters) with production by Big West (Macross, Macross Frontier), d-rights (El Cazador de la Bruja, Gun X Sword) and Tatsunoko Production (Gatchaman, Casshern Sins).
