Golgo 13 The Professional HeaderDiscotek Media had a license rescue that’s been out of print for some time and goes all the way back to the Streamline Pictures days with the June reveal that they acquired Golgo 13: The Professional. We learned just over a month ago that the release was scheduled for Blu-ray on August 30th, 2016 but has now found itself delayed until September 20th, 2016.

This release marks the first time that it’ll be available on Blu-ray and includes the previous dub edition.

The 90-minute film was originally released in 1983 and previous saw released from Urban Vision on DVD in North America. The film was directed by Osamu Dezaki based on the screenplay by Hideyoshi Nagasaki and Shukei Nagasaki. The main Japanese cast includes Tetsuro Sagawa as Duke Togo / Golgo 13, Goro Naya as Leonard Dawson, Kei Tomiyama as Robert Dawson, Kumiko Takizawa as Rita, Reiko Mutoh as Laura Dawson and Toshiko Fujita as Cindy. The English cast includes Gregory Snegoff as Duke Togo / Golgo 13, Michael McConnohie as Leonard Dawson, Diane Michelle as Rita, Ed Mannix as Gen. Jefferson, Eddie Frierson as Gold, Edie Mirman as Laura Dawson, Gregory Snegoff as Snake and Joyce Kurtz as Cindy.

Plot concept: After assassinating the son of business tycoon Leonard Dawson, Golgo 13 finds himself prey to the CIA and the U.S. Army, whom Dawson has personally hired to kill the assassin. As days pass by, Dawson slowly loses his sanity as he continues to plot every attempt to kill Golgo 13 even without caring about who hired the assassin to kill his son.
